Hurricane Gabrielle rapidly intensified to Category 4 as expected from the mesoscale models last night along with the satellite imagery trends. The Atlantic basin isn’t broken after all — just need to get the storms out of the tropics north of 30°N latitude.
Clear and warm eye — looks like Gabrielle has maxed out at 120-125 knots with a Dvorak Data-T number of 6.5 — only a 0.5 point below Category 5.
