Hurricane Lee is now west of Bermuda and impacting the island with tropical storm force winds out of the ESE. Maximum sustained winds are 75-knots (Category 1) but the TS wind field is very large, about 700 miles across. To the east, Hurricane Margot continues to slowly loop and pile up ACE points for the season. Margot is no threat to land. Invest 97L is midway between the Leeward Islands and Cape Verde Islands in the central Main Development Region and has a 90% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone — likely major hurricane over the coming days.

NHC track of Lee has held very steady over the past 2-days with completion of extratropical transition before landfall in Nova Scotia. The S inside the white circle means “post-tropical” similar to Sandy prior to landfall in New Jersey in 2012.
