Snowfall from Blizzard of 2026 — record breaking totals pushing aside the Blizzard of 1978 in New England: widespread 12-18” and then higher amounts of 24” to 36” in Providence and just east in Mass. Just south of Trenton, New Jersey also was a big winner.
The total QPF was on the order of 1.5” to 2.5” and with snow to liquid ratios (SLR) of 10:1 to 14:1, that’s how we got the snowfall. A total of about 2.5 trillion gallons of liquid precipitation fell — and A.I. helped me figure out that is a “ 3 mile sided cube ” or 27 cubic miles of snowfall.
