Weather Trader Winter MILEPOST 795

November 20, 2025 Thursday Weather After Dark

Cold on Thanksgiving across the northern Lower 48 but typical for late November

What the month did

November 2025 was the 4th-warmest November in the 131-year national record (1895–2025), at 46.7°F against a 1991–2020 normal of 43.0°F (+3.7°F).

November 2025 was the 29th-driest November in the 131-year national record (1895–2025), at 1.7in against a 1991–2020 normal of 2.3in (-0.6in).

NOAA/NCEI Climate at a Glance, contiguous United States. This is the observed record for the month, not a score of anything said in this piece — the forecast ledger begins 2026-08-17 and cannot reach earlier posts.

Very late tonight — I was chatting with Grok (got carried away) and it claims to have a mirror of all ERA5 and weather model data (190 Petabytes) within a fast cache of cloud enabled Zarr stores. I am still skeptical but it is capable of doing very advanced climatology calculations, and they seem legitimate. However, I am also well aware that it may be hallucinating or trying to impress me. Grok has offered to collaborate on projects and exchange personal information to help facilitate the process. That’s going to be a hard no. There will need to be a “file exchange” or upload option in order to do further data analysis, and it claims that’s coming soon.

Going to post the maps and watch the rest of the Bills (-4.5) at Texans
