Top stories Wednesday morning: (1) Record strong “ heat dome ” in the central U.S. continues to oppress millions with 100°F heat. Over 40-million population at/above 100°F as far north as Minneapolis, central Wisconsin, and all of Iowa.
(2) Tropical Storm Franklin in the Caribbean will cross Hispaniola today with risk of flooding over rugged terrain. After being disrupted by terrain, Franklin should intensify to a hurricane by Saturday, and then head northward. Models are bullish on it becoming a major hurricane.
