Weather Substack Returns for 2023

Yay! I now have time to blog about the weather and climate.

What the month did

March 2023 was the 45th-coolest March in the 132-year national record (1895–2026), at 40.5°F against a 1991–2020 normal of 43.6°F (-3.0°F).

March 2023 was the 27th-wettest March in the 132-year national record (1895–2026), at 2.9in against a 1991–2020 normal of 2.5in (+0.4in).

NOAA/NCEI Climate at a Glance, contiguous United States. This is the observed record for the month, not a score of anything said in this piece — the forecast ledger begins 2026-08-17 and cannot reach earlier posts.

Back in Business (July 31, 2023)

It's been a while, but I have decided to start seriously writing about weather and climate from my somewhat unique point of view.

The idea will be to charge $5/month for access to this blog or platform, as well as a constellation of other products and offerings that I have developed over the past months as part of my new outfit appropriately named The Forecast Company. The motto will be exploring and forecasting the Earth or “Everything Under the Sun.”

Let's boldly go.
