Without tropical storms, the southeast U.S. would be quite dry. Indeed, in the last month here in Atlanta, we only had rain from Hurricane Helene. The rest of the Lower 48 is parched as well. Interesting late summer / early fall dry pattern continues into next week as well. Wonder what this portends for winter?
Cold air from Canada descends into the Southeast by mid-week with frost/freezes probably to North Georgia. Only in the 20s across the Great Lakes and Midwest. Some chance of light flurries or maybe Lake Effect snow showers, briefly as the cold air moves over the still very warm Great Lakes.
