The lights went out in Georgia around 3 PM ET as the moon blocked out about 85% of the sun’s downward shortwave radiation flux.
Temperatures cooled by 5° to 7°F over the course of the 2 PM ET to 3 PM ET hour. Then, once the sun emerged again, the temperatures went right back up like it was only a passing shower or cloud cover.
