Weather on Easter Sunday

Watching a frontal boundary along the warm front bumping into the cold Canadian air mass. Could be some strong thunderstorms around Indianapolis Sunday evening, otherwise some moderate rainfall in the Ohio River Valley.

The low continues to spin off the Southern California coast before moving into the 4 Corners with snowfall at higher elevations. The ridge of high pressure remains strongly in place across the Southeast.

Easter Sunday High Temperatures

Exceptional warmth on Easter Sunday with 80s into Nashville, St. Louis, Charlotte and Atlanta. That will make for high pollen counts, but otherwise perfect to be outdoors. 70 million at/above 80°F.

Next 8-Days Weather Systems

Wednesday and Thursday: a developing low-pressure system plows through the Great Lakes into the Northeast.

There is still enough cold air behind the low to generate heavy snow squalls and perhaps blizzard conditions on Thursday in New England. Colder air blasts behind the front for next weekend into the Southeast.

Total rainfall 2-3” along I-80 from the storm system. 1-2” from NYC to Boston. Question is how much of that moisture in New England falls as snow?

The ECMWF HRES suggests heavy snowfall for New England in the 12-18” range maximum w/Boston at 12”

The ensemble mean is at 8” for Boston.
