Impressive storm system that deepens into the 980s mb central pressure over Montana and the Canadian Prairies with significant snowfall \u2014 and cold air on the back side tapping into the \u201cpolar vortex\u201d linked \u201ccold pool\u201d still operating over the Arctic.

Severe weather along the cold front attached to storm system in the Plains and Midwest from Kansas to Minnesota \u2014 will fizzle out while pushing off the East Coast, but hopefully we\u2019ll get 0.25\u201d of rainfall over the Southeast including the Carolinas.

Sunday into next week: another powerful Plains \u2014> Great Lakes storm system with likely severe weather threat along a sharp cold front as cold air again clashes with the \u201cheat and humidity\u201d supplied by the Gulf of Mexico.

Unfortunately, does not look like significant rain for the Southeast this weekend \u2014 maybe we\u2019ll get 1/4\u201d or hopefully more in a thunderstorm. We\u2019ll need to wait until middle of next week for the moisture/flow out of the Gulf to fuel convective storms \u2014 heading into May. The pattern looks much wetter!
